Business Process Improvement
We identify the inefficiencies inside your core processes, score them against our proprietary Process Maturity Scale, and give you a prioritized roadmap to fix them. Backed by Six Sigma methodology.
How it works
Build Mature Business Processes
Discover
We interview your team and review existing documentation to understand how your business actually operates today. Stakeholder conversations,
process walkthroughs, and artifact review across every core function
in scope.
Evaluate
We map every core process end to end using swimlane diagrams, define ownership and KPIs, and score each process against our proprietary Process Maturity Scale. You see exactly where the gaps are and what they are costing you.
Mature
We build a prioritized improvement roadmap with specific recommendations, implementation sequencing, and measurable targets. Then we help you execute. SOPs, automation, training, and controls to make the improvements stick and deliver real organizational ROI.
When Processes Break, the Whole Business Feels It
Most organizations do not have a clear picture of how their core
processes actually work. Work gets done, but it runs through people
instead of systems. When someone leaves, the knowledge goes with them. When the business grows, the cracks get wider.
Business process improvement consulting gives you the objective outside view your internal team cannot provide. We map what is actually happening, score it against our proprietary Process Maturity Scale, and identify exactly where the waste, risk, and inefficiency are hiding. Every
recommendation comes with a dollar value and a priority ranking.
We have delivered business process improvement engagements across
manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, oil and gas, professional services, and many other industries. Our Six Sigma Black Belt methodology means every finding is grounded in data, not opinion. And because we help implement the changes, not just document them, the improvements actually hold.

Frequently Asked Questions About Business Process Improvement Consulting
Common questions about business process improvement consulting engagements with Brewster Consulting Group.
What does a business process improvement engagement actually look like?
We start with structured discovery across your core operations. Stakeholder interviews, process walkthroughs, and documentation review to understand how work actually gets done today. From there we build swimlane process maps, score each process against our proprietary Process Maturity Scale, and deliver a prioritized improvement roadmap with dollar values attached to every recommendation. Engagements run 6 to 10 weeks depending on scope.
How do you measure the maturity of our current processes?
We use our proprietary Process Maturity Scale, an 8-level framework that scores each process from Level 1 (undocumented, lives in someone's head) through Level 8 (fully automated with real-time decision making). Every process gets a score, a gap analysis, and a recommended next level. This gives you an objective baseline and a clear picture of where business process improvement will have the highest impact.
What is the difference between business process improvement and business process optimization?
The terms are often used interchangeably. Process improvement typically refers to closing the gap between how a process currently performs and how it should perform. Process optimization goes further, fine-tuning a process that is already functioning well to maximize efficiency and output. In practice, most engagements involve both. We assess where each process sits and apply the right approach based on the maturity score.
How long does a business process improvement project take?
Most engagements run 6 to 10 weeks from kickoff to final recommendations delivery. Implementation support extends beyond that depending on the scope of changes being made. We scope timeline before any work begins so you know exactly what to expect.
What does business process improvement consulting cost?
Engagements are fixed fee and scoped after a discovery call. Pricing depends on the number of processes in scope, the number of business units involved, and overall complexity. You know the full investment before any work begins.
What industries do you work in?
We have delivered business process improvement engagements across manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, oil and gas, professional services, and home services. The methodology transfers across industries. The problems, processes built out of necessity instead of design and knowledge living in people instead of systems, are universal.
We already have documented processes. Do we still need a business process improvement consultant?
Documentation does not equal maturity. Most companies we work with have some SOPs in place. What they are missing is an objective score of how well each process actually performs, where the biggest gaps are relative to best practice, and what improving those processes is worth in real dollars. That is what the engagement delivers.
What do we actually receive at the end of the engagement?
You receive swimlane process maps for every process reviewed, a Process Maturity Scale score for each one, a prioritized recommendations report with dollar values attached, KPI definitions, and a phased implementation roadmap. For companies that move into implementation, you also receive SOPs, training documentation, and sustainment controls. Everything is yours to keep.
